Clarkston Community Band performs in concert, 5 p.m., May 30, at Depot Park. Rain date is May 31 at 2 p.m.
Directors of the band’s final concert of the season are Mike Lewis from Clarkston High School and Shelley Schwaderer-Roland from Sashabaw Middle School.
They will also perform at Clarkston Medical Group’s grand opening on Sashabaw Road at 2 p.m.
The band’s season startes with Concierto de la Caida in October, the annual Christmas in Clarkston in December and Musicks Miscellanie in March.
It also performed at the Red Cedar Band Festival that was held in Okemos. This has been the first full year having Mike Lewis and Shelley Schwaderer-Roland as co-directors.
“The professionalism they have brought has made a dramatic improvement in the band itself,” said Marshall Copeman, trombone.
The Clarkston Community Band, founded in 1890, provides the opportunity for amateur musicians to perform in a band.
“Membership of the band represents a broad spectrum of backgroundsincluding nurses, schoolteachers, engineers, housewives, students, and senior citizens,” Copeman said. “The band has a strong sense of community purpose and provides free musical entertainment at civic, charitable and community events.”
The band is open to all adult and high school musicians. Rehearsals are Tuesdays throughout the school year, 7-8:30 p.m. at Sashabaw Middle School, 5565 Pine Knob Lane. For more information, check www.clarkstoncommunityband.org.
