Clarkston Girl Scout leaders Thelma Peterson and Jeanne Kitchen were honored with National Awards at the Girl Scouts of South Eastern Michigan Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, April 21, in Davison.
Kitchen has been a leader for 10 years, guiding troops for both of her daughters. She is also active in Clarkston Service team, mentors new leaders and service unit volunteers, and was director of the Pleasant Ridge Girl Scout Day Camp. She was presented with the Girl Scout Honor pin for outstanding service to Girl Scouts.
Peterson was also presented with her Girl Scout Honor pin. She has been a leader for two generations, ensuring her daughters and granddaughters were able to be Girl Scouts. She is the leader of two troops, has held various positions on the Clarkston Service Team, and assisted her troops in organizing activities for the Service Team. She has been an active member of the Pleasant Ridge Day Camp and last year took over as camp director.
The dinner also recognized volunteers for years of service. Clarkston Girl Scouts were represented by 12 leaders and three girls.
