Sashabaw Road accident proves fatal for local man

Raymond Giroux, 63, was killed Saturday, Feb. 1 at 9:25 a.m. as the result of an automobile accident on Sashabaw Road in Clarkston. Deputy Tom Poulin, of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, said Giroux, a Clarkston resident, was southbound in his 1996 Chevy Lumina when he crossed the center line and was struck broadside by a northbound S-10 pickup truck, driven by a 50-year-old Clarkston resident. Giroux was not wearing a seatbelt, Poulin said, and died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the pickup was transported to Genesys Hospital in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation.
