Icers fall to Oxford

The Lake Orion varsity hockey team is nearing the end of its troubled season, after a loss to Oxford on Feb. 8.
The Oxford game as senior salute night for the Dragons, who were surprised in a 6-1 upset by the Wildcats. Junior Carl Krauss scored the lone goal for Lake Orion late in the third period.
Freshman goalie Joey Adkisson started out the game for Lake Orion, but was replaced in the second period by senior Jeff Nichols. Adkisson was put back into the game after Nichols tried to clear the puck, but was charged into by an Oxford player and was hit severely.
After the game, Nichols went to the hospital, under suspicion of a possible concussion.
The Dragons came into the game against Oxford without a win since Jan. 29, which was a 5-3 victory over Lamphere. Lake Orion will play against Mt. Morris on Feb. 15 at the Flint Iceland Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
On Feb. 18, the team plays against Waterford Kettering at the Troy Sports Center, with a game time of 8 p.m.
