Diabetic challenges
At 1 p.m., Aug. 3 the center will host Diabetic Challenges and Solutions. A certified diabetes educator will discuss healthier eating and physical activities for diabetics. The free session will be held in a conversational format. Group size is limited to 20 attendees. Details: 877-532-4545.
Belle Isle renovation
At 10 a.m., Aug. 13, a representative from the Women’s Committee on Belle Isle renovation will be at the center to discuss the history and future of the largest island park in the United States. After the program, the audience is invited to share their memories of the popular park attraction. Register at the senior center, 345 Ball St., Ortonville.
Last Chance Harvey
At 10 a.m., Aug. 14, a free viewing of the new release movie, Last Chance Harvey, compliments of Mammoth Video in Ortonville, will take place at the center. The movie focuses on two guarded strangers who find a growing connection with one another after a chance encounter in London.
Acrylic painting
From 1-3 p.m., Aug. 17, ‘Wicker Basket of Lilacs? will be the theme of the acrylic painting that artist Steve Wood will teach at the center. The cost is $20 and includes all supplies besides paper towel and a plastic plate to mix the paint. Painters should bring a water container to wash their brushes, as well. Register at the center.
Tea and fashion
At 2 p.m., Aug. 22, tea and fashion: A fashion show and tea party at the center. The cost will be $5 per person at the door. Register on the poster at the center.
