The Orion Township Public Library, ialong with the Orion Senior Center and Alzheimer’s Association, will present viewings of the HBO documentary ‘The Alzheimer’s Project? in a 4-part 4-week series.
Anyone interested in learning more aboutAlzheimer’s Disease will benefit from this documentary, facilitators said.
According to an estimate from the Alzheimer’s Association some 10 million Americans currently suffer with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.
Seventy percent of these people live at home, cared for by family and friends.
Amidst the heartbreak of Alzheimer’s, there is reason for hope; view this groundbreaking and informative documentary at the following dates and times:
Friday, October 2, 10am ? 1 pm : The Memory Loss Tapes several stories illustrate the progression of the illness. To facilitate discussion, Lisa Ewald, program coordinator from the Alzheimer’s Association will be here with handouts. Snacks provided.
Friday, October 9, 10 am ? 1 pm: Grandpa, do you know who I am? is a poignant feature hosted by Maria Shriver. The film tells the stories of five children who are coping with grandparents suffering fromAlzheimer’s disease. Senior Center support group host, Lorraine Kremer joins us for discussion. Snacks provided.
Friday, October 16, 10 am ? 1 pm: Momentum in Science parts I and II. Amidst the heartbreak ofAlzheimer’s, there is real hope. This 2-part documentary takes viewers inside the laboratories and clinicsof 25 leading scientists and doctors, who seek to discover what can be done to better diagnose and delay the onset of memory loss.

Thursday, October 22, 6:30pm-8:30 pm: Caregivers shows why successful caregivers don’t help out of a sense of obligation; they truly love their family member and get a sense of joy from giving to themperson.
Treena Hutton from the Alzheimer’s Association and Laurie Orlando, JD MA, LPC, NCC fromTreeside Psychological Clinic, PC will lead us in discussion after watching the final documentary. Dessert provided.
