The face of the homeless has changed.
That’s the word from Mark De La Fuente, youth pastor at Lakeview Community Church who on Nov. 13, will coordinate the second annual ‘Cardboard City,? at the church, 10023 South State St.
‘Homelessness isn’t just the man on the street with the can collecting coins,? said De La Fuente, ‘It’s the person who doesn’t have another paycheck coming in and needs to live in someone else’s house.
The participants spending the night will be constructing shelters out of cardboard to sleep in. Cardboard City is done during the National Week Of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month.
The participants will be asking for pledges and donations to raise money and give back to The Carriage House, as well.
