Clarkston grad earns scholarship

Chelsea Rawe of Clarkston was one of six high school graduates presented with a $2,500 college scholarship, through MetroPCS’ Community Scholars Program.
The students, honored during the June 1 Detroit Tigers game, also received Kyocera Laylo phones with one year of free MetroPCS Wireless for all service.
Scholarship winners were selected based on their community involvement, participation in school activities, academic record, honors received and work experience.
“It gives us great pride to recognize the outstanding achievements of young citizens in our community,” said Glen Flowers, vice president and general manager of MetroPCS Michigan. ‘At MetroPCS, we strive to enrich the lives of the communities in which we serve. Through this scholarship program, we hope to reward students who not only excel academically, but also demonstrate a commitment to their community through volunteerism and community service.?
