Oakland County Parks and Recreation received three national awards for outstanding park programs and facilities.
The parks system’s ‘Tuning Your Tot? program at the Wint Nature Center in Independence Township was recognized as a model program by the National Association of County Parks and Recreation Officials.
Tuning Your Tot is a seasonal program that was initiated when the Wint Nature Center opened 25 years ago, offering adults and preschool-age children an opportunity to discover nature together.
Oakland County Parks and Recreation also received a Historic and Cultural Facility Award from NACPRO for its preservation and development of the historic Buhl Estate, now Addison Oaks County Park, and the National Association of Counties honored the parks system with an Achievement Award for its Recreation Assistance Partnership program.
