Rotary awards Brandon teacher

The Ortonville Rotary Club, as part of their community involvement and support of area schools, has established a yearly grant to teachers of the Brandon School District. It is the club’s belief that awarding a grant to one of the area’s educators will have a greater effect on the children in the community. This grant was established to allow a teacher to enhance their program with additional funding they wouldn’t be able to do through the traditional school budget.
This year, Oakwood Elementary School teacher Toni Schlaire was the recipient of the $500 grant. The funding will assist Schlaire in acquiring dramatic play materials for her kindergarten classroom. These materials will provide students with the opportunity to have experiential learning. They will learn though hands-on, cooperative activities, and generate healthy creative play.
This grant is part the Ortonville Rotary Club’s commitment to education along with the scholarship presented to a graduating senior, and the STRIVE program within the high school.
