Birth
Alyssa Lynn Louise Whited
Tim and Carrie Lynn Whited of Ortonville are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Alyssa Lynn Louise Whited.
Alyssa was born at 9:24 a.m., July 14, at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. She weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 18-and-a-half inches long.
Big brother is Jon Abraham Whited, 2. Grandparents are Eldon and Angela Abraham of Saline and O.D. and Oneida Whited of Daytona, Fla. Great-grandmother is Anna Louise Ventura, 88, of Westland.

Achievements
Kasha Cobb, 17, of Goodrich was awarded Reserve Champion, Speed and Action, at the Michigan State 4-H Horse Show, Aug. 20. She competed with more than 40 other riders.

Wagner
Jacob Wagner, of Goodrich, has been named to the second annual Offense-Defense Youth All-American Bowl. Jacob, 9, is a quarterback for the Brandon Junior Blackhawks and will join dozens of peers in an east meets west clash that is part of a weeklong series of events. These events lead up to the nationally-televised fifth annual All-American Bowl, an All-Star football game of similar format showcasing 80 of the top high school seniors in the country. Jacob was selected from thousands of young athletes to participate in this one-of-a-kind All-Star game.

Roggenbuck-Puhl
Paul and Sandra Roggenbuck of Ortonville are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Ann, to Alexander Douglas Puhl, son of Douglas and Maureen Puhl of Southgate.
A May 2010 wedding is planned.

Academics
Tyler Cole maintained a 4.0 GPA at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in the Honors College for the spring semester.
Tyler is majoring in microbiology and this summer received a fellowship from the Biomedical and Life Fellowship Sciences Porgram to do research at the University of Michigan.
The 2006 Brandon High School graduate is the son of Thomas and Kathy Cole of Ortonville.
Jennifer Ikeler, a 2009 Brandon High School graduate, was recently presented the Senator Philip Hart Scholarship by Lake Superior State University.
The family of the late Sen. Hart established the scholarship in 1977 at his request and to honor his nearly 20 years in Congress, where he earned the title, ‘The Conscience of the Senate? from his colleagues due to the way he conducted politics. Sen. Hart believed the goal of politics and government was to build a better future for our children and our children’s children.
To be considered for the scholarship, students with a minimum 3.0 grade-point-average submit two letters of recommendation and write essays that detail their values, goals and public service experience while answering the question, ‘How have my activities thus far related to the goals and ideals of Sen. Hart??
Ikeler founded Keemo Kraftz, collecting craft projects for distribution to young cancer patients.
She is the daughter of Derek and Joan Ikeler of Brandon Township.
Amiee Oosterlinck graduated from Western Michigan University on April 25, receiving a bachelor of science degree in textile and apparel studies with a minor in business.
Emily Blake graduated from Brandon High School on May 31. She will attend Northern Michigan University in the fall where she has received merit scholarships.
Her photo was omitted from the Brandon/Goodrich graduation section published May 30 in The Citizen.
