If you haven’t tasted the pizza from Big Jake’s Pizza and Shakes since the first of the year you haven’t tasted it at all.
After spending approximately six months improving their pizza making process, owner Steve McGinnis has tasted perfection. The secret, said McGinnis, was finding the right mix of ingredients and baking techniques. Pizza that was previously cooked in three minutes at a high temperature is now cooked almost three times longer at a much lower temperature.
Mcginnis has also revamped the sauce, fattened the breadsticks and found a new blend of cheese. His enthusiasm for his better than ever pizza is evident, as is the pride he takes in the product.
Big Jake’s offers 19 flavors of premium hand dipped ice cream, any of which can be used to be made into a sundae or any of their signature shakes. For customers with a serious sweet tooth, McGinnis recommends either the Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae or a Big Jake’s Banana Split, both of which weigh in at over a pound each.
There have been changes at Big Jake’s other than just to the pizza recipe, the pizza sizes also changed. Previously they offered just regular and large sizes of pizza, where as now they offer the traditional small, medium , large and x-large sizes. Also, Chicken Wings, Stromboli, Nachos and Cinnamon Knots have been added to the menu and the new Speciality Pizzas they offer really has McGinnis excited. ‘Our Chicken Fajita and Californian Speciality Pizzas have really produced a lot of positive feedback. Once people try them, they’re hooked.?
All of Big Jake’s hand tossed, brick oven pizzas have four types of flavored crust available at no extra charge. For just $3 extra Big Jake’s delivers pizza and ice cream anywhere within a 5-mile radius. Medium pepperoni pizzas cost only $5 each Monday–Wednesday and most comptitors coupons are accepted every day.
Through the last six months was a period of change for Big Jake’s, McGinnis is perhaps most proud of something that has remained constant; his loyal customers. It’s that loyalty that was the motivation behind having a Customer Appreciation Day on Friday, March 17.
‘We just wanted to say ‘Thank You? to everyone that has stayed loyal to us through this process and invite everyone else to come in and try our new taste. We’re giving away free big slices, and not just pepperoni. We want to give everyone a chance to try our Specialty Pizzas. I know people will love them and what better day for a celebration than St. Patrick’s Day??
