Dear Editor,
I attended a Brandon School Board meeting on Dec.13 and a community member in the crowd stood up when the ‘speaker of the house? announced-public comment time. To my surprise, he was shot down when she said that he never signed in. Well has anyone ever heard about signing in at a board meeting?
Isn’t this a place to voice our opinion, after all, we the taxpayers are the largest stakeholders in the district. He was three minutes late (arrived at 6:30) and it was the night of the bad storm that shut our schools down for two days. The funniest part of the whole thing is that he beat some of the boardmembers there. But no one penalized them, and they were even allowed to participate in the meeting. So long of the short is, I sent an email to (Superintendent) McMahon on Wednesday questioning this behavior and to this day still have never recieved a response. Maybe we all need to attend the next meeting at 6:30 p.m., Jan. 10 and ask a few questions of our own. Please, if you want to speak, arrive early and sign in; otherwise you, a taxpayer of Brandon Township, will not be allowed to say anything and they-‘the board? will blow you off for another month in hopes you go away.
