The Michigan Animal Rescue League hosts the 18th Annual Tail-Wagger Two-Step on 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, May 22 at Independence Oaks Park.
The fund raiser includes breakfast, lunch, lap around the lake, and adoption of animals such as Willow the dog.
A passerby found Willow with a broken pelvis in Detroit and brought her to the non-profit rescue center, which provided her with immediate medical attention. After a few weeks of care, she is back on her feet, ready for her first public appearance.
“This is going to be a really fun event with great activities for families and their pets. We are glad that Willow is healthy and happy enough to join us,” says Kayla Allen, MARL executive director.
Doggie Dash DeLure will present an agility demonstration. Walkers can also have their pet create unique works of art with their paws on canvas with My Painted Paws. The team with the most funds raised will receive prizes and a trophy.
Funds raised at the event help the shelter provide food, medicine, shelter and emergency care.
