CreekFest

Ortonville- The most ‘outstanding special event,? as named by Main Street Oakland County, is back.
The eighth annual CreekFest will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., June 4 in the village. The Downtown Development Authority-sponsored event celebrates waterways in the village and Brandon Township, primarily Kearsley Creek
‘We have many exciting things going on at our free community event and are hoping for our largest turnout yet,? said Event Chair Liz Waters.
The Cranbrook Bat Show returns to CreekFest this year after a four-year hiatus. Two bat shows are planned, at noon and 2 p.m. Other planned activities include a pet parade from 10 a.m.-10:30 a.m., reptile shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., a fly-fishing demonstration at 1 p.m., yacht race from 1:30-2 p.m., and minnow race from 2:30-3 p.m.
Events taking place continuously from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. include an arts and crafts fair, blacksmithing and self-sustainable living demonstrations, environmental exhibits, pet adoptions, kids? crafts, a bounce house, and tours of the Old Mill and Mann Schoolhouse.
All activities and shows are free.
Food vendors include O’Malley’s Galley, which hosts a ‘Taste of Trout.? Papa Bella’s Pizza and the Village Pub are open for business and there will be a hot-dog cart and sloppy joe’s at the Old Mill. Cook’s Farm Dairy will sell scoops of ice cream for $1, with proceeds benefitting the Relay for Life of Brandon/Ortonville.
