Remembering vets? sacrifices

Hundreds of residents gathered at Riverview Cemetery to remember and honor veterans at the Memorial Day Service, presented by American Legion Campbell-Richmond Post 63.
Midshipman Eric Nordquist, home following completion of his first year at the U.S. Naval Academy, and U.S. Army Spec. Mason Vires of Auburn Hills attended the service in uniform.
‘I live here, I feel Memorial Day is for honoring those who served before,? said Nordquist, a Clarkston High School graduate.
‘I’m here for this event. I thought I’d come out and participate,” Vires said.
‘I think this is wonderful, a great tribute,? said Kim Berry of Clarkston, watching the ceremony with her son, Brendon. ‘I’m pleased with how many people showed up.?
Kristina Austin Scarcelli, singer, songwriter, 2006 Mrs. Michigan, and A descendant of two Union Civil War soldiers, performed at the service.
