The sun smiled on man’s best friend, May 22, at the 18th annual Tail-Wagger Two-Step Walk hosted by the Michigan Animal Rescue League of Pontiac.
‘We’ve had some really bad luck with weather the past few years, but our fortunes have turned and we are ecstatic about today,? said director Kayla Allen at the Independence Oaks County Park event.
Allen, who has been with the organization for 30 years, said the purpose of the event was to make people aware of the Michigan Animal Rescue League and to raise funds for the 130 cats and dogs we have housed at the shelter.
‘It’s an event for people to experience a fun day and come out with their pets to enjoy themselves,? she said.
Among one of the events was the Doggie Dash De Lure, put on by Jeff and Sue Kotlarek from Romulus.
‘It’s a closed in lure course that any dog who likes to chase a bird or squirrel can go crazy through,? Jeff said. ‘Dogs like to run and chase but usually are not allowed to, here we let them run.?
