Brandon Twp.- Police are warning residents to take extra precautions after a recent spike in home invasions in the township.
‘Keep your doors and windows locked,? said Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Detective Dale Brown. ‘Over the last three weeks, there has been an increase in reported home invasions at all hours… The time of day is not important? we are seeing them in the day and evening. Know your neighbors and keep tabs on each others? properties.?
Deputies responded to two home invasions on Monday. In the 300 block of W. Glass Road, a complainant said the door of the neighbor’s home had been kicked open. The complainant heard a noise around 12:30 a.m., but didn’t see anything amiss at that time. The homeowner was not at the residence at the time, but after being called to the home, said nothing appeared missing The back door was forced open and a detached garage door had been kicked open and the doorjamb was broken. A truck door in the garage, and cupboard doors were also left open.
In the second Sept. 12 home invasion, deputies responded to the 2400 block of Lea Lane around 8 a.m. after the complainant came home and found the front door kicked open and the doorjamb broken. The bedroom had been ransacked and several pieces of jewelry were stolen, as well as change from several jars.
