Matthew Dahl of Clarkston, Boy Scout Troop 189, earned the rank of Eagle Scout with a project to build and repair picnic tables at Pontiac Lake State Park.
Dahl and other scouts spent 176 hours in planning and completing the project. They constructed 20 new tables, including material preparation, assembly, and sealing, along with four new birdhouses.
In addition to various leadership and service projects, he served his troop as assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, patrol leader and historian. Scout trips included Isle Royale National Park and Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
Dahl is 15 and a sophomore at Clarkston High School, a 4.0 student, and a member of the varsity tennis team. He also plays the piano and the saxophone. He would like to major in Engineering and minor in Music at the University of Michigan. His proud parents are Mike and Katie Dahl. He has two older brothers Paul and Nick, who are both also Eagle Scouts.
Matthew was awarded the Eagle rank, the highest in scouting, on Sept. 25 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Clarkston.
