J Leigh Saunders excitedly hugged her uncle, Corporal Richard Tarrant. Saunders was one of many Clarkston Elementary students honoring veterans last Friday.
The school also received a flag from the 1st Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment. The flag flew in Afghanistan and was sent to Clarkston Elementary. Last year the students sent batteries, CDs, letters and more to troops to show their appreciation
Last week they held a food drive for Operation Homefront, helping military families.
