Brandon Twp.- Signs, recreational vehicle storage, sale of vehicles, accessory buildings and architectural design requirements for commercial buildings will be among items discussed at a joint meeting of the township board and planning commission.
The two governmental entities will come together at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 23 at Fire Station #1, 53 South St. On the agenda will be seven proposed zoning ordinance revisions, including one to clarify wording on the square footage allowance for accessory buildings; one on the sale of vehicles from residential property (it has been proposed that sales be limited to one vehicle per one 30-consecutive day period and no more than four vehicles sold per year per property); two revisions regarding commercial signs, one addressing the length of time electronic graphics can be displayed and the other in regards to multiple ground signs on property; and a new ordinance establishing architectural design requirements for commercial structures, including theme, features, building proportions, facades, roofs, entrances, awnings, pedestrian pathways, lighting, landscape and more.
‘The planning commission will be able to contribute to the reasoning for their recommendations,? said Supervisor Kathy Thurman.
‘I think our planning commission is recommending good revisions and I appreciate their willingness to explain their concerns to the township board. Enforcement issues have prompted some of these revisions.?
