Chinese or water – If its Orion it has a dragon

Dragons ruled the evening March 10 when the historic Addison Oaks Ballroom was transformed for the Orion Art Center’s Dragon Gala fund-raiser.
The elegant Chinese New Year-themed evening was a great success and patrons dined, danced and celebrated beneath a hundred lanterns. As they did they bid on the chance to take home fabulous prizes including art, autographed sports memorabilia, getaways and tours of local television and radio stations.
Lake Orion resident and artist Al Brown was named Artist of the Year and guests had the chance to see the detailed marble and bronze sculptures that reflect his love of nature.
Chosen Patron of the Arts, ‘Diamond Dave Schurman,? was honored for donating space in his building that the Art Center will use for its holiday market and activities throughout the year.
Sponsors for the evening included McLaren Cancer Institute, Waste Management, Oxford Bank, M & B Graphics, Oakland Press, The Lake Orion Review, Community Lifestyles, Lymtal International, OCS Design, Accent on Art, Diamond Dave’s Creative Jewelers, Skalnek Ford and Monroe Engineering.
The event supports the Orion Art Center and the community festival Dragon on the Lake. Please visit orionartcenter.org and dragononthelake.com for more information or call the Art Center at (248) 693-4986.
