Q: Should I get a pre-approved loan before I shop for a home?
A:’Yes,? said Dawley. He added a good Realtor can provide lender referrals. ‘This should be one of the first steps in the home buying process. It will determine the amount of home you can purchase, give you an idea of the amount needed for your down payment, what your monthly payment will be and an idea of how the mortgage process works.? He also recommends dealing with a reputable local lender. Additionally, Dawley said, interviewing multiple lenders and getting good faith estimates from them is advisable.
Q: What advice would you give a first time home buyer?
A:’Find an agent through a personal referral,? said Dawley.
Q: Should I interview more than one Realtor?
A:’If a buyer or seller cannot obtain a referral for a Realtor from a friend, relative, etc., interviewing more than one Realtor is advisable,? said Dawley.
Q:Can a Realtor assist me in the purchase of a newly built home?
A:’Absolutely,? said Dawley. He recommends finding a Realtor that has extensive knowledge of new construction and new construction financing.
Q: How do I determine the value of my home?
A:’The best indicators of value,? said Dawley, ‘are homes that have sold and are currently on the market that are in your neighborhood or near your home that are as similar in size, age, bedrooms ,etc., as possible to your home.?
Q:What should I look for in a Real Estate Agent?
A:’Integrity, honesty, experience and knowledge,? said Dawley.
Q: When is the best time to list my home for sale?
A:’Whenever it best meets your needs,? said Dawley. ‘Our market is not seasonal any longer as I believe it was years and years ago.?
