‘What makes this store unique is that for three generations it has maintained carryout service and a friendly environment,? said store manager Joe Dore. ‘We are all family here and that gets passed on to both the customers and employees.?

Running one of the few grocery stores left to offer no-tip carry out service, owners Chris and Denny Bueche maintain the general store atmosphere that their grandfather started so long ago.
As part of the family flavor, customers are met with the aroma of fresh breads, cakes, cookies, and doughnuts baked daily in the on-site bakery.
A deli expansion with a state-of-the-art rotisserie racks allows take out convenience for the on-the-go shopper. If there’s no time for lunch or to prepare for an impromptu party, the deli serves ribs, chicken, and homestyle casseroles, freshly made salads, dips, party trays, cold cuts, and cheese trays to impress the taste buds.
Bueche’s fresh meat and seafood department butchers prepare the finest USDA-approved beef, pork and poultry, cut in cleanliness which exceeds industry standards. Butchers are standing readily to slice up any special order in single or family size portions, or to assists customers with selection in planning specialty meat orders.
A display of produce from Michigan and around the world is kept moist and fresh in the handicap-accessible vegetable coolers. The department also provides specialty-order fruit gift baskets.
Modern technology is evident throughout the recently expanded store, but Beeches? old fashioned dedication to quality customer service is apparent.
‘The improvement that is working best for us is the double express lane and the extra lane,? said Dore, ‘because it’s great for our customers.?
Wider aisles offer customer comfort while browsing the expanded specialty foods and local merchandise.
‘Renovations within in the store allow us to carry a wider variety of specialty foods,? said Dore.
Bueche’s tracks and stocks the latest food trends, and have recently added more soy and rice products.
‘We’re working with a different ad group which is giving us better access to specialty items,? said Dore. ‘We are in the group with 23 other stores so that helps keep our prices low.
For other quick gifts, Bueche’s boutique section offers a wide selection of florist-quality flowers and plants, balloon bouquets, greeting cards, seasonal decorations, a full selection of Scentsations home decor candles and accessories.
Dore said they are always on the lookout for new opportunities to improve customer service.
‘Service is important,? said Chris Bueche. ‘The industry is forcing change, but we can continue to treat our customers the way they want to be treated.?
Customer comfort and service are tops on Bueche’s list of priorities, but community involvement is a tradition to the grocery store with the personality.
Bueche’s continues to employ local youths, stock local merchandise, supply donations to local groups, sponsor the ‘Cash for Kids Program,? host local bake sales, and provide front lobby space to the local Girl Scout cookie campaign.
