Real Estate One

Real Estate One brings the power of a statewide company with the care of local people who are involved in the local community.
‘It’s important to support what happens in this community,? said associate broker/manager Sharon Williams. ‘We need to give back to the community.?
The Ortonville office of Real Estate One does that in many ways. They collected more than a truckload of used clothes in the annual Christmas collection for the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund, and participates in local events such as Septemberfest and Christmas in the Village. Williams is a past president of the Ortonville Area Chamber of Commerce, as well, and was excited to have her business at the chamber’s first Business Expo.
In business at their Ortonville location since August 1993, Real Estate One handles listing and sale of residential, vacant and commercial properties with about 18 agents and two office staff members.
The parent company has been in business in Michigan since 1929, however, and that means the local office gets a lot of help. Real Estate One is a third generation real estate business that is the largest in Michigan and the 18th largest in the United States.
In addition to staying current with market conditions, the team is up to date with information technology. The firm has their own information technology department to keep the company Web site accurate.
‘Our technology department is working continually to upgrade what we have,? said Williams.
The company Web site now includes all real estate listings, and a new multi-listing service known as MI Re-Sources will attempt to link all real estate offices in southeast Michigan.
To keep up with the times and technology, Real Estate One agents are always going ‘back to school? so they can offer additional resources to local buyers and sellers.
‘Nobody in Michigan has the training Real Estate One has,? said Williams.
All the talk of new technology does not alter the focus on the needs of the individual buyer or seller. Williams, who has 23 years experience in the field, knows the most important thing is to be sensitive to the customer’s specific situation.
‘Every deal is different,? she said. ‘You have to be able to put yourself in the buyer or seller’s shoes.?
That brings it all back to an emphasis on ‘local.? Williams said that is one of their strengths, because they know the importance of the relationship.
‘It’s still a smalltown community,? she said. ‘The people in the community support the businesses and the businesses support the community.?

The Ortonville office of Real Estate One does that in many ways. They collected more than a truckload of used clothes in the annual used clothing drive for St. Vincent de Paul. They have a blanket drive during the Christmas season that goes toward the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund (OCEF), and adopt families during Thanksgiving and Christmas. They also participates in local events such as Septemberfest, the Ortonville Business Expo and Christmas in the Village. Williams is a past president of the Ortonville Area Chamber of Commerce.
‘We make it a point of giving back to the community where we make our living,? Williams said. ‘We’ve been able to meet and introduce ourselves to local residents.?
Williams said Ortonville’s combination of small-town charm and proximity to larger communities makes it a great place to do business.
‘Most people that live here work outside the community,? she said. ‘Ortonville is a bedroom community. Most people do not have the luxury to work in the community they live in.?
In business at their Ortonville location since August 1993, Real Estate One handles listing and sale of residential, vacant and commercial properties with about 30 agents and three office staff members. They have been the top real estate company in Ortonville since 1995.
The parent company has been in business in Michigan since 1929 and that means the local office gets a lot of help. Real Estate One is a third generation real estate business that is the largest in Michigan and the 18th largest in the United States. They have been the top real estate company in Michigan for more than 40 years.
‘They understand what they have to do to train agents to provide top service for buyers and sellers,? Williams said.
Williams said the Internet is fast becoming ‘the single most important thing in the real estate world,? adding that people typically check out houses online before they come to their offices.
‘Having a Web page for the agent and company is extremely important,? she said.
Real Estate One works diligently to create new ways to help each sales associate and employee reach their full potential. Real Estate One has a state-of-the-art Web page through which each agent has the ability to have their own Web page. Buyers and sellers alike can go online through our Web page at www.realestateone.com, and make their utility changes.
Despite the influx of technology, Williams said that cannot replace the human aspect.
‘Just because we have all the technology, the personal one-on-one interaction with the buyers and sellers is still top priority,? she said.
Williams, who has been in the real estate business for 25 years and with Real Estate One for 12 years, said she hopes to continue to build the office this year with either new or experienced agents.
Williams said mortgage interest rates remain low, and the year has already started out with a bang. ‘It looks like a good real estate year,? she said.
