Dear Editor,
Thank you to everyone who made our Bookin? It for Your Library 5K Run and 5K Walk and Dewey Decimal Dash such a success last Saturday (May 12).
With participants and spectators, we had more than 300 people. A good time was had by all, as we raised funds for our Brandon Township Public Library programs and materials. Sergeant Pete Burkett did a fantastic job planning our scenic 5K route through the village of Ortonville. Our DPW employees do a fabulous job of keeping our village beautiful, and it was nice to show it off. Kudos to our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)! They were at every intersection of our race, stopping traffic, directing participants and keeping everyone safe.
Thank you Fire Chief Dave Kwapis for coordinating the efforts of our CERT team.
Thank you to the numerous volunteers who came to help with registration, food, cheers, awards, and our water station, of which all cups and water coolers were donated by McDonald’s of Ortonville. Thank you for great race coverage from The Citizen newspaper, and Brenda Timmermans, who donated her entire morning, capturing spirited pictures for our race. Visit us at the library to see her wonderful pictures. This race could not have even gotten off the ground if we had not had such wonderful sponsors who donated money to get us started. A very special thank you to the Greater Ortonville Chamber of Commerce, In Motion Anytime 24 Hour Gym, Lori Mancini of Coldwell Banker Shooltz Realty, Friends of the Brandon Twp Public Library, Denise Poniatowski of Divine Nutrition, Laura Bommarito of Verizon Wireless, Bullfrogs, Jane Derry-Burkett of RE/MAX Encore, J and J Decorative Concrete of Clarkston, The Coffee Club of Ortonville, Cora Rehabilitation Clinic of Ortonville, Lisa Dwyer of National Home Lending Mortgage, and Mark Kemp of Maui Wowi Events and Catering.
