Annual golf outing for Lions

The Lake Orion Lions Club is preparing to swing at their 17th Annual Golf Outing and Dinner, June 2.
‘It’s one of our bigger events for the year, but it’s also one of our (most fun),? said Rick Rice co-chairman of the event. ‘This is a way we can actually go out and socialize and have fun and still make some money for our club.?
The outing is at Indianwood Golf & Country Club located at 1081 Indianwood Road.
‘Indianwood has been very gracious to let us have it there,? said Rice. ‘They’ve actually asked us to have it there and we’re actually the only group who’s been allowed on a Saturday out there for an event. Usually it’s Monday or Tuesday for that kind of stuff, so pretty much anybody can play in this.?
The event is a 4 person Scramble with a Men’s flight and mixed flight. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $120 per person for registration before May 31 and $130 after May 31. Non-golfers can also join for dinner for $28.
‘If somebody doesn’t have a foursome or can’t get a whole foursome together we have a lot of single players to hook them up with,? he said.
The event will also include a hole in one vehicle give aways, skins both men’s and mixed, prizes and silent auction, Vegas hole, closest to the pin and long drives.
Milosch’s Palace is putting up a vehicle for a hole in one and Burdick Street, Landscape, Supply & Equipment in Oxford is putting up a garden tractor,? Rice said.
He added that they’ve also had a lot of people interested because of the U.S. Open being held there. They’ve allotted for 144 players and they’re already over 100.
‘We’re hoping to fill up this year,? he said. ‘We’ve actually sold out in our previous years at different outings.?
They are still looking hole sponsors. The cost is only $100 and the business names appear on all 18 holes, as well as silent auction items.
‘If local businesses and restaurants have gift certificates or coupons, promotions they want to do, we’d love to take those,? he said. ‘All of our money goes back to the community or to operations like Lions Bear Lake Camp, Leader Dogs for the Blind, ‘Christmas for Everyone? food baskets, project ‘kid site,? and more.?
