Malinda Werth hosts the fourth-annual Music Under the Moonlight concert, Saturday, 5-10 p.m., Aug. 4, in the outdoor pavilion behind New Hope Bible Church at 8643 Sashabaw Road.
‘This year we are going to host several anti-human trafficking organizations that will be speaking in between musical line-ups to talk about their organization and how people can get involved in the solution,? Werth said. ‘They will also be setting up their information in booths we well.?
Music Under The Moonlight will feature several local musicians, including Shaye and Dan Tennant, Arnie, Pat and Chris Herberg, Marty Fleszar, Lindi Nelson, Emily Polet and Sarah Dalton.
Werth partners with the Justice Project, a ministry geared toward the rescue and rehabilitation of victims held against their will in the global sex trade.
‘This event is a great way for the community to rally together, get involved and do something to help in this fight against human trafficking,? she said. ‘It is a good cause and a fun evening. I want people to know that anyone can play a part in making the world a better place. It just starts with being willing to see what is going on in the world in order to change something about it.?
The event also includes food and drinks donated by the community, s’mores around a bonfire and free children’s activities.
Werth has been trained as a licensed professional counselor, as well as a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor. She works with the Justice Project in victim identification and counseling to victims as part of their aftercare.
A $15 donation is suggested for attendance.
