Grads continue their riding success

Former Clarkston High School Equestrian team standouts are still riding and continuing the strong tradition they learned from their Clarkston equestrian program.
They are creating big impact on their collegiate equestrian programs.
Blazing the path into the college ranks are Grand Valley State University senior Jacquelyn McClain and junior team captain and regional champion Kasey McKay, both ride on the Stock (Western) team. Albion College Senior Alyssa Olson rides on the Dressage team, was a team captain and has advanced to the national competition. Grand Valley State sophomore Amber Olson rides on the Hunt Seat Team; sophomore Lauren McEvilly rides on the Oakland University Hunt Seat Team, and sophomores Taylor McEvilly and Erin VanBuskirk ride for the Michigan State University Polo team. Adrian College freshman Emily Pobuda rides on the Hunt Seat Team and has been named captain for the 2013-14 team.
Information on the Clarkston High School Equestrian program can be found on the high school website.
Most people may not realize there is a thriving collegiate equestrian program within the state of Michigan. Fourteen colleges within Michigan offer a competitive equestrian program under the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and the Intercollegiate Dressage Association with regional and national competitions.
