Atlas Twp. – Get your car stuck, go to jail.
The Genesee County Prosecutor’s office is expected to issue warrants for the arrest of a Flint man, 20, who has confessed to larceny from 10 Atlas Township vehicles in May.
The suspect was tracked down by the Genesee Auto theft Investigation Network (GAIN) after getting stuck on Jordan Road west of Irish Road in a vehicle stolen from a Mundy Township home.
The man had called a friend, leaving the car, which was discovered by Genesee County Sheriff department officers, who called GAIN.
The man confessed that he was under the influence of the drug Oxycotin, a painkiller, at the time of the larcenies.
Of the purses, phones, briefcases, CDs, and laptop computers stolen during last month’s rash of larcenies, 128 CDs and a case have been recovered.
GAIN Detective Larry Gritzinger says he’s attempting to get warrants for the Atlas Township vehicle larcenies, as well as for possession of a stolen vehicle.
