Dr. Jason Olafsson has brought a new weight loss program into the Lake Orion area at Custom Health Center that is catching on and helping to make the community healthier.
The program is called NutriMost and it has been receiving rave reviews for its effectiveness and ease.
The 40-day program does not use bizarre fad diet tricks. It uses sound diet techniques but its secret is that it is customized to each person. Average weight loss during the 40-day period is 20 to 45 pounds.
The Center has numerous testimonials from happy patients and before and after photos that show how well the system works. Dr. Olafsson will even show patients his before and after photos. He is both a customer of the system and a staunch proponent of how well it works
‘We use technology to find out what is going on with each person and then we balance things nutritionally,? said Olafsson, who is a chiropractor. ‘It’s very different than other weight loss programs. We have had great success with helping people get fit bodies and become healthier.?
What helps NutriMost work is in the technology and customizing it for every person. The system analyzes 2,800 different biological markers in each person and determines what kind of nutritional support is needed.
Typically, a patient may need two to five supplements to help balance their systems, Olafsson said. These supplements could be things to help balance hormones or vitamins. They are provided to patients as part of the program.
Patients are given a list of foods to buy and menus, which are all nutritious and healthy options. Everyone eats quality food and needs to avoid unhealthy fast food choices..
Exercise is not required. Nor are any drugs prescribed. There is no pre-packaged food that is necessary and patients report that they are not hungry.
The patients are asked to keep a daily journal of their meals and all are given direct access to Dr. Olafsson’s cell phone to let him know about their progress each day and to ask questions, if necessary. They are asked to let him know daily about their weight losses to that he can monitor progress.
Olaffson said the program was initially developed by a mentor, Dr. Ray Wisniewski, in Pennsylvania, and he learned of it there.
At the time, Olafsson said he was overweight and needed to lose weight. He tried the program and lost 37 pounds in 40 days.
‘It revolutionized my life,? he said.
The weight, as it does with most people on the program, has stayed off.
Before introducing the program to patients, Dr. Olafsson wanted his parents to try it. His father lost 30 pounds, his mother dropped 20 in the 40 days.
Since that time a couple of years ago, patient after patient have been coming into the clinic at 3631 S. Baldwin and getting on the system, which is guaranteed to work.
