Renaissance High School students learned skills for a successful life during Challenge Day, Dec. 11-12.
Professional leadership speakers flew in from Concord, Calif., to teach the students about tolerance and appreciation with seminars on anti-violence, anti-bullying, school unity, diversity and openness, and other topics.
Clarkston Area Optimists provided $8,000 for the program through a two-year community grant to the school. Several Clarkston Area Optimist members also acted as adult facilitators during the program.
The 22 adult volunteers also included members from Clarkston Free Methodist Church.
‘The Challenge Day mission is to provide youth and their communities with experiential programs that demonstrate the possibility of’love and connection through the celebration of diversity, truth, and full expression,? said Vicky Petrouneas-Mantzios, teacher and organizer of the event.
