The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a stolen generator on Candlewick on July 16.
According to an OCSD report, a 51-year-old man said that a $650 generator was stolen from his garage. The man, at approximately 8 p.m. the previous evening, had backed a project vehicle out of his garage to service it.The portable generator was easily visible then from the road, but is normally hidden by the vehicle in the garage. At that time, a 26-year-old Lawson man was at his neighbor’s house, giving an estimate for the installation of a fence and walking around the property line.
The man moved the vehicle back into the garage, against the generator. His wife said they had bought it during the ice storm, and at least two people would have been needed to lift it.
The man said he obtained the Lawson man’s business card from his neighbors, and the OCSD found the man had numerous larcenies and criminal convictions on his record. They were unable to contact the man at his residence.
