The creativity was weaving through the air at Clarkston Junior High School during the annual Teen Art Camp, June 16-19.
The annual camp had a few new additions of weaving and clay tiles but returners were delighted the camp favorites of screenprinting, creating an alternative sketchbook and encaustic wax was back.
“It’s fun,” said Grace Durkin, a first year camper. “You learn a lot but you are still independent.”
“I like this camp,” added Claire Durkin, a camper coming back for her second year. “We don’t have these materials at home. It is nice to have two people who know what they are doing and help you. It is like going to a studio and it is freestyle.”
The campers also work with charcoal, paints and colored pencils while working their creations. The camp gives them the time, opportunity and resources to try out different ideas they may not be able to do in school or at home.
