Hadley Twp.- Doggie style will be on display when fashion and pooches come together during the first annual Paws on the Runway, a fundraiser for the K-9 Police Dog Fund, set for 2-5 p.m., Aug. 24, at the Hadley Town Hall, 3551 Hadley Road.
‘It’s our first dog fashion show and if successful, we will grow from there,? said Mary Jo Patel, president of the K-9 Police Dog Fund. ‘A dog fashion show can be as sophisticated as New York City or as practical as Hadley. We’re not New York City, but the old town hall in Hadley will let us try it. We want to expose people to a lot of different breeds of dog.?
Paws on the Runway will feature at least a dozen dogs, with breeds including German shepherd, Dutch shepherd, chihuahua, and doberman, as well as some American mixes. The dogs are not available for adoption, but those in attendance will receive some information on each breed and what it is like to live with them. The dogs will walk the runway in various attire chosen by their owners.
Besides the fashion show, K-9 officers will bring their dogs for demonstrations of what the animals do in the line of work. All money raised will be used for training and equipment for K-9 teams in Oakland, Lapeer, and Genesee counties.
