Friday was Halloween, but at Kingsbury Country Day School in Addison Township it was also ‘Make a Difference Day.?
Students at the K-8 public charter school did their part to make life a little better for the dogs at the K-9 Stray Rescue League who are patiently waiting to be adopted into loving homes.
The students worked together to make 195 no-sew fleece blankets to keep the pooches wrapped in warmth and softness this winter.
Kingsbury collected a ton of supplies for the organization including 103 cans of dog food; 50 leashes, collars or harnesses; 58 toys; 75 pounds of Milk Bone dog snacks; 23 bags of treats; 36 rolls of paper towel; 11 gallons of bleach; 13 bottles of disinfectant; eight boxes of garbage bags; seven bottles of dish soap; four bags of dog food; and $30 worth of gift cards.
In addition to making blankets, students packed ‘doggie bags? for pooches lucky enough to get adopted. Each bag included a can of food, either a toy, leash or collar, and a handwritten card from a Kingsbury student.
As a bonus, the kids got to meet three of the dogs that the K-9 Stray Rescue League is caring for until permanent homes can be found.
