Oxford Public Library has been selected by the Michigan Humanities Council as one of five venues throughout Michigan to host the Smithsonian Institute exhibit The Way We Worked, which draws from the National Archives? photographic collections to tell the story of work in American culture.
The exhibit will be at the library from December 6 – February 1 and available for viewing during regular library hours.
Many library programs have been planned during that time including a visit by State Scholar Dr. Thomas Henthorn.
On Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Henthorn will be at the Oxford Public Library to talk about The Worst Jobs in American History from the Dangerous to the Unsavory.
What it is that makes some jobs a joy and others down-right miserable?
Learn about some of the worst jobs that Americans have had in the last two hundred years ? who had these jobs and what made them the worst jobs in American history.
Dr. Henthorn is the Wyatt Professor of U.S. History at the University of Michigan-Flint where he specializes in community-based research and teaching public history.
