Field success

The Springfield Township Parks & Recreation with Buck Shots Bar and Grill held their annual Buck Pole on Nov. 15.
For the first day of all-arms deer season, they had five deer submitted and over 160 people in attendance.
“We feel this year’s event was a great success and we were happy to see so many come out to join us,” said Casey Reed, recreation coordinator.
Joe Cipponeri, from White Lake, was first place in the overall category with a 8-point deer at 160 pounds and 18-inch inside spread.
Second place was Charlie VanBibber, from Waterford, with a 10- point deer weighing 158 pounds with an 13-inch inside spread.
Austin Dzieniszewski, of Madison Heights, was first place in the youth category with a Button Buck at 80 pounds.
Other deer included a 9-point from Howard Ayers, of White Lake, at 130 pounds and 12.5 inch inside spread and a 7-point from David Strunk, of Davisburg, at 140 pounds and a 15.5 inch inside spread.
Scores are based on weight, rack size and number of points. Door prizes and awards were given. Sponsors included: A. Purves Excavating, Bass Pro Shop, Buck Shots Bar & Grill, Clarkston Auto Wash, Clydes Frame & Wheel, Dairy Queen of Clarkston, Expressions Taxidermy, Jeepers of Auburn Hills, Letavis Enterprises, Little Caesars of Holly and Springfield Township Parks & Recreation.
“We look forward to another amazing event and partnership with Buck Shots Bar & Grill in 2015. Good luck to those who are still awaiting their opportunity to get a deer this year. Be safe,” Reed said.
