The Lake Orion High School Choirs and The Lake Orion High School Bands are pleased to announce their first annual Winter Wonderland Concert honoring all Veterans and Seniors within the community.
This free concert will be held at the Lake Orion High School Auditorium on Wednesday, December 10th at 11:00 a.m. and will feature a variety of holiday classics and musical favorites.
Immediately following the concert, student musicians will host an afterglow for their guests with desserts and coffee provided. No reservations are necessary and again, the event is free.
This is the second event of recent to help fundraise for the Lake Orion Bands and Choirs.
Just a couple weeks ago the duo hosted their first annual Gift of Music dinner on Saturday, November 22nd at the Kings Court Canterbury Castle. The evening featured outstanding performances by both choir and band students in the district as well as dinner, dancing and a silent auction.
Three Outstanding Alumni awards were also presented to band and choir alumni who continue to serve their communities in extraordinary ways. The Lake Orion Bands presented awards to Jennifer Asher (?95 trumpet) Lake Orion Band Boosters Co-Vice President and Scott Taylor (?92 tuba) Lake Orion Schools Board of Education Trustee while the Lake Orion Choirs honored Stoney Creek High School Choir Director and LOHS Choir alum, Brandon Ulrich.
The event raised over $5,000.00 in its inaugural year which will provide much needed funding for both programs. ‘The Lake Orion Band Boosters are the primary source of funding for the middle and high school band programs? stated Dawn Priebe, Vice President of LOBB. ‘We provide funding for visiting clinicians and new instruments at the middle school levels as well as lend financial support to each of the band programs at the high school level.? continued Priebe.
‘Our primary goal is to ensure that the band students in the Lake Orion district are not affected by the lack of state funding and that our directors have the support they need to continue the strong tradition of providing exemplary music education to our children?.
‘The evening was a celebration of the incredible music programs within our district? added Lyla Dyer, Recording Secretary for LOBB, ‘and it was nice to see so many new faces lend support to a program that means so much to the over 800 student musicians within our schools?.
