Dragons lose to Clarkston; hope to improve as season progresses

Lake Orion Basketball Coach Tom Risi knew his young Dragons would likely have a rough start to the season but he is convinced they will learn from playing a tough schedule early and will rebound later.
The young Dragons certainly had a tough time last week against Clarkston as the undefeated Wolves improved their record to 6-0 with a 74-48 victory.
Clarkston jumped to an 18-7 lead after the first quarter, increased if to 31-19 at halftime and then poured in 27 points in the third quarter to the Dragon’s 13.
Elmalik Martin led the Dragons with 14 points. David Gomez netted 13 and Joe Turnbull added eight points.
Lake Orion dropped to 0-4 with the loss to Clarkston but all of the losses have come against quality opponents. Risi said he hopes the team can learn early in the season in non-division games and then perform well as the OAA season begins.
The tough matchups continue this week as the Dragons have games against Stoney Creek and Southfield Lathrup.
