Collier Lanes in Oxford was the place to be Monday night when The Oxford Wildcats and the Clarkston Wolves high school bowling teams faced off.
In the girl’s match the Wildcats won both baker games and jumped out to 10 to 0 lead. The Oxford ladies then closed out the match by shooting a new school record of 1040. Leading the way was Megan Kessler with a 246. Alyssa Hurlburt 219, Mackenzie Janssen 237, Hannah Farmer 174 and Stefanie Chizmadia 164 followed her into the record books. In game 2 the wildcats were lead by Kelly Caldwell’s 216 game.
The final score of the match was Oxford 22 and Wolves 8.
‘The boys Varsity match was the best match I have ever seen, High school or Adult leagues. Both teams were unbelievable in there effort and bowling. I have been bowling for nearly 50 years and have never seen a better match.?
Clarkston took a 10 to 0 lead by winning both baker games. Game one went right down to the 10th frame before Oxford pulled out a 1096 to 1087 win. Drew Pappas led the way for the Wildcats with a 276 effort in game one.
Game two was even more amazing that game one. Both teams tossed strike after strike. Clarkston’s Nick Treece had 244, Kris Adair had 221, Evan Farough shot 247, Tim Cathell had a 245 and Jacob Kersten shot a 198. Their team total of 1155 is an outstanding score. Oxford needed to step up in a big way and they did. Luke Delong led the way with 279. Brady Wynkoop 256, Eric Armbruster 246, Drew Pappas 208 and Christian Cartner followed him at 195. Oxford shot an astounding 1184 to win the match 18 to 12. The 1184 is a new school record for Oxford Boys Varsity.

Both programs are strong programs and for both of them to bowl at there best at the same time is special,? said Head Coach JR Lafnear. ‘We feel very fortunate to have come out on top today. Our kids showed a lot of mental toughness today and I am a very proud coach.?
