Responding to concerns about the new bridge in Depot Park, Oakland County Commissioner Tom Middleton visited the site and said the contractor obtained an erosion permit from Oakland County.
In addition, the city’s storm water specialist from its engineering firm Hubbel, Roth & Clark inspected the job site to ensure the city was in compliance.
Tammie Heazlit of Independence Township filed a complaint with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality over soil-erosion barriers installed on the river bank at the site. City officials said its staff met with the supervisor from the Oakland County Soil Erosion Program and was found to be in full compliance with legal requirements.
The new bridge, now in place in Depot Park, was made possible through an $80,000 donation from residents Bart and Diane Clark.
