The Lady Wildcats clinched the OAA White Division Title on the court after a huge victory over Troy 51-32 on Feb. 19
‘It was a hard fought game by both teams,? said Head Coach Steve Emert.
Oxford (14-4, 8-0) started out slow, managing to only score 16 points in the first half.
However, the Wildcats came out in the second half on fire, pouring in 21 points in the third quarter while holding the Colts to only three points.
Oxford was led by Jessica Murphy with 25 points and nine rebounds.
Skye Donaldson chipped in eigh points, six rebounds and had five steals.
Cherilyn Banas led the team in assists with six. In the loss, the Colts were led by Alyssa Grecky with eight points.
The girls who played against Avondale on Feb. 24 will finish out their season at home against Lake Orion on Feb. 26 starting at 7 p.m.
‘The games this week are extremely important for us going into district competition,? Emert said
With it being the last home game of the season, Oxford will also honor its senior players.
‘Our five seniors ? Jaynee Butkiewicz, Nina Walatkiewicz and our senior captains Jessica Murphy, Cherilyn Banas and Skye Donaldson ? have done a tremendous job of leading this team with integrity and pride,? Emert said. ‘It will be extremely hard to replace their leadership skills.??
