If you’ve received a traffic ticket in Oxford Village sometime over the last year, there’s a good chance you’ve already met Sean Brown.
That’s because he probably pulled you over.
Brown, a part-time officer with the village police department, led the agency in traffic enforcement in 2014.
For his efforts, Police Chief Mike Neymanowski awarded him a Traffic Safety Ribbon at the April 14 council meeting.
‘Sean, your exceptional dedication to traffic enforcement and plain hard work has successfully contributed to the agency’s efforts,? the chief said. ‘Thank you very much, sir.?
Last year, Brown addressed 2,214 traffic violations.
‘Mostly for speeding, disregarding traffic signals and driving (with a) suspended (license),? Neymanowski said.
Brown also led the agency in drunken driving arrests, making him eligible for an award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving. He took 20 intoxicated motorists off the road.
Despite all his traffic stops, Brown only had one citizen complaint lodged against him.
According to Neymanowski, a woman felt Brown ‘wasn’t understanding? of why she was speeding.
However, after reviewing the video footage from the patrol car’s camera system, the chief said it was clear Brown ‘was more than patient with this particular person and I have to commend him for that.?
Brown joined the department as a part-time officer in December 2013. Prior to that, he was a reserve officer from November 2011 through August 2013.
