Girls continue winning on diamond

The Lady Cats Varsity Softball took three wins and a tie this past week, moving their record to 11-3
They kicked off the week against Utica with a 2-1 win.
Logan Medel drove in the go-ahead run to give the Oxford Wildcats Varsity the lead in the seventh inning, on Monday, April 27
After Hannah Vachon walked, Medel, brought home Vachon.
Kaitlyn Bean got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She tossed five innings of shutout ball. Bean struck out six, walked one and gave up three hits.
Marser couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Utica High School, taking a loss. She lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out 11, and allowed two runs. Utica scored its only run of the game on an RBI single by Marser in the first inning.
‘Utica is a very good team and we were lucky to win in the seventh, said Head Coach Jessica Granger.
In the second game the girls couldn’t manage to quite get the win, but clawed their way back for a 4-4 tie.
The Wildcats Varsity jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Cherilyn Banas kicked things off for the with a single. A groundout by Madison Dinges then moved Banas from first to second. Donaldson doubled, scoring Banas.
Skye Donaldson racked up two RBIs on two hits for the. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning, which tied the game. Torongeau baffled the Wildcats, striking out 11 batters. Torongeau allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks over six innings
We had some tremendous senior leadership from Seniors Skye Donaldson and Cherilyn Banas,? Granger said.
On Thursday, April 28 the girls traveled to Bloomfield, where a 17-run explosion in the third inning spurred the Lady Cats to an 18-0 win in three innings in the first game.
The Lady Cats scored in the third on an error, a passed ball, a two-run single by Banas, a walk by Skye Donaldson, a three-run double by Lauren Donaldson, a two-run single by Romine, an RBI single by Bean, an error, a walk by Medel, a walk by Medel, an error, an RBI single by L. Donaldson, and an RBI single by Romine.

The Oxford Wildcats Varsity’s Bean kept Bloomfield High School off the scoreboard for all three innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out seven.
The Oxford Wildcats Varsity easily handled Bloomfield High School pitching as seven hitters combined for 11 hits, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
Like in the first game the Wildcats jumped out to an early lead on Bloomfield and captured a 13-2 .
The game was decided quickly as the Oxford Wildcats Varsity exerted their will early with seven runs in the first three innings.
An RBI single by Morris, an RBI single by Romine, a hit by pitch, an RBI single by Diamond Zeiger, and an RBI single by Cherilyn Banas during the first inning fueled the Oxford Wildcats Varsity’s offense early.
Morris racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Oxford Wildcats Varsity.
The Oxford Wildcats Varsity easily handled Bloomfield High School pitching as seven hitters combined for 16 hits, seven RBIs and 12 runs scored.
The top of the first saw Bloomfield take an early lead, 2-0. A two-run blast by Benson, plating Stonecipher started the inning off.
The Oxford Wildcats Varsity increased their lead with six runs in the fourth. A ground out scored Morris for the inning’s first run. That was followed up by Zeiger’s single, scoring?

The girls will take the field again at Home at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday against Seaholm
