Neiman’s commitment to Clarkston continues

Last week, owners of Neiman’s Family Market announced they have signed an extension to their lease contract. According to sources, they have a 12-year lease with options to renew every five years.
‘We are excited,? Store Director John Schmidt said in a phone interview Friday. ‘The Neimans family is here for the long haul.?
Neiman’s Family Market, at the intersection of Dixie Highway and White Lake Road, opened two years ago, and have steadily grown their customer base, product selection, competitive pricing, and, more importantly, customer service.
‘We are known for working with our customers,? Neiman’s President Bryan Neiman said. ‘And, I think people in Clarkston appreciate that.?
Neiman’s has given back to the community by supporting local school programs, athletics, parades, service groups and charities.
Both Schmidt and Neiman are ready for good weather and what that brings to their grocery business. The local grocer is expanding their area for organic, Michigan and hard to find unique produce.
‘Soon the Michigan asparagus will be coming in and after that, Michigan berries,? Schmidt said, adding the floral tent is back with hanging plants, flowers, herbs and vegetables for sale. ‘The tent will be up for about another month.?
Aside from a great deli, food trays, bakery and one of the area’s best micro-brew and wine selections, Neiman’s has carved out a niche for itself with its Corner Cafe.
‘Small coffee clutches are showing up in the morning, business people are coming for lunches and some people just come to have a cup of coffee, one of our bagels and read the paper,? Schmidt said, adding, ‘Our customers have told us we have the best bagels in town. And, our coffee is from a Michigan-roasted coffee.?
The store, which employs about 85, is having a job fair this month. According to Schmidt, there are full time employment opportunities available for ‘hard working people with happy, smiling faces.?
Experience helpful but not completely necessary. The job fair is Wednesday, May 20, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Corner Caf?.
This July, Schmidt is looking forward to hosting their second annual car show (watch The Clarkston News for details).
Watch for Neiman’s ‘Picks of the Week? full page advertisements in The Clarkston News and Penny Stretcher over the next three months. Their ads will feature some of their unique produce, awesome savings and introduce readers to their staff.
‘One of the things we are known for,? Schmidt said, ‘is being open to our customers. If they want a product, we’ll look for it and most of the time we can stock it.?
