Wild West adventure at camp

Local Girl Scouts spent time at Independence Oaks County Park for “Wacky-n-Wild West” Day Camp, June 15-19. The camp was hosted by Troop 13360 and Troop 11913.
The girls researched and planned crafts and activities for the camp for girls entering grades 1-6, and organized a service project for House of’Providence,’a teen girls foster care home in Detroit.
“They have worked really hard as this is a big event,” said Mary Schleusner, also known as “Sheriff Wild.” “Terrific girls doing terrific things in the community.”
About 180 local Girl Scouts made crafts, sang songs, made campfire treats, and learned archery and canoeing.
Also, about 35 adults helped out at camp. The camp has been at Independence Oaks for about 30 years.???
