In Orion Township, there’s an app for that.
Trustees approved the first township mobile application at the board meeting Monday night, in which all things Orion will be locatable with one simple click. Free of cost to residents, the app will be a one-stop-shop resource for Orion for local attractions, city services and recreation information.
Residents can download the app in about one month, Supervisor Chris Barnett said, by visiting their iTunes, Android or Google+ app stores on their smart phones.
After four bidders, Barnett recommended C4 Marketing of Rochester Hills to design the app. C4 Marketing was chosen based on their one-time fee, as compared to other bidders with annual or monthly fees, Barnett said.?
The app will cost $10,210.
‘We are constantly trying to find ways and keep people involved and in the loop, it’s our goal to put information right in front of you,? Barnett said. ‘It’s going to be the place to go for anything Orion Township.
Barnett is most excited for the community calendar, where township events, along with local nonprofit ‘and library events’just to name a few’will be listed by day, to help with overbooking fun escapades.
Also to be included in the app: special alerts for road closures or emergency situations; geo tagging, for areas in the community that need assistance residents will be able to take a picture of it and upload it directly to the app; trail maps including stations along the trail, historic ties and tips; township meeting information; a staff directory and contact information, an area for community feedback; a location to submit pictures from around town; and more areas that are still being developed, including a way to promote local businesses.
‘It’s just another, better way to engage the community.?
