Pedestrians and bicyclists through Depot Park had to take a detour around the south entrance over the weekend due to construction work around the new bridge.
City of the Village of Clarkston was rerouting the path from the bridge to Main Street to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, said City Manager Carol Eberhardt in an online posting.
Bart and Diane Clark of Clarkston donated $100,000 for the bridge. Also, Trish Henning, owner of American Roots Wildflowers, donated plants to be placed in planter boxes; Eric Haven, Sharron Catallo, Eberhardt and Don Frayer each purchased a light to be mounted on the bridge; the Clinton River Watershed Council awarded the city $5,000 for the project; and HRC, the city engineers, donated $3,500.
Dedication of the bridge is scheduled for 2 p.m., Sept. 7, though it may be delayed depending on whether work is complete, city officials said.
