Storm-related high winds blew through northern Oakland County Friday evening causing more damage in some places than others.
For example, it appears the strong winds helped knock over the Meijer store sign along M-24 (shown right).
But there wasn’t much else to see.
‘We got really lucky,? said Oxford Fire Chief Pete Scholz. ‘The wind came through, but we didn’t have any downed wires. We didn’t have any (fallen) trees.?
‘Orion got hit really hard,? Scholz noted. ‘They got downed wires all over the place and (were) without electricity for quite a while. (The winds also) went to the north through Metamora and Lapeer. Again, we got lucky.?
Over in Addison Township, there wasn’t much to report, either.
‘We only had one tree (fall) across a road, so we got lucky,? said Fire Chief Jerry Morawski. ‘During the storm, a little tree (fell) on Oakwood Road and that was it. No power outages here. We actually made it through. Amazing.?
‘Orion got hammered,? he noted.
